Run ... Run... Run ...

A happy little Fletchy, racing along for a cuddle most likely!
Have a lovely, relaxing weekend my friends xx

Branch Love ...

Happiness is a gnarly mossy branch ....
This fabulousness was featured on Daily Candy, and then pimped over to me by Pip who knew I would have a heart attack..... she knows my soul mate is a stick shop!
Behold my fellow lovers of a branchiness ... Nettleton Hollow ...
This one is called Mitsumata ...
Kim, do you remember painting Crafers branches with white paint for Bec's Wedding flowers ....? What a treasure you were to trust me that they would be worth it in the end ...
And then for babysitting them for about a month when I moved .... even though they took up most of your spare room ...
Might have been a little less time consuming if I knew you could buy white branches ......!

This lovely one is natural birch ... swoon ....

And this fabulosity is this sandblasted grapewood ... sigh!

Last but not least, this gorgeous green Avena (Oats to us country folk!) ...
Stuff the new job ... I need a stick franchise immediately!

Bank House ...

This is the coolest place!
Apparently it was thought to be abandoned, but in fact it has been the residence of photographer Jay Meisel and his family for the last 42 years ...
It was an abandoned bank that he lovingly brought back to life ... dream renovation!
Lucky sod ...

He uses 3 of the levels as gallery spaces ...
And this walkway houses curiosities ... I want a hall to devote to curiosities!

He stores art in one of the bank vaults ... of course!

Note the gorgeous pressed tin on the walls - and subway tiles!

His daughters bed was set up on these platforms so she could see the skyline ... what a nice Dad he is ...

And as if all of that was not torture enough, they have a stunner of a rooftop garden, complete with the original copper cladding ... and a perfect Schnauzer ...
It's just not fair!

See the full commentary here ...

Torturing Myself ...

These stunning neighbouring mews conversions are currently for sale ...
I want them both ...

Why do I constantly torture myself by looking at real estate in foreign countries?
I never learn ...

Dinner is Served ...

Isn't this guy a hoot? Hee he xx

Seriously, Christmas is my favourite decorating time of the year ... and who better to provide us with some whimsical inspiration than the ever-so-stylish Danes ...

Royal Copenhagen originally started displaying Christmas table settings 45 years ago, when their in house artists would hope to create a festive ambiance in the store ...
This tradition continues but now the tables are created by the famous ...

Last year the theme was 'Christmas of the Artists' and these are just 3 of the stunning designs ...

This first 3 photos is by artist Violise Lunn ...
She created 2 winding twisted branch arrangements glittering with shimmering ornaments for the centre and hung 2 angels overhead to represent the peace of Christmas descending on those dining ...

I love that scrubby table ...

The setting below was created by Niels Bastrup ...
It is 3 tables in fact, soaring into the ceiling to look like a Christmas tree ... with the chandelier hung above representing the star on top ...
Glittering ornaments, mirrors, potted topiary plants and plaster busts of the company's founder complete this theatrical design ...

And below my favourite ... the setting created by the wonderful and whimsical Jette Frolich ...
One of Royal Copenhagen's most enduring artists, having designed Christmas decorations for them for 18 years ...
Her inspiration came from ice skating at Christmas as a child ... and the table is set as an elliptical ice rink with glittering ice princes princesses dancing across the ice ...
Also set are softly glowing candles and twigs lending a clean and crisp winter morning aroma ...

Do you love?
I love ...

This Christmas the theme is 'Castles and Manors', and 6 Danish barons, baronesses and countesses have been invited to design table settings as they would in their own homes (or castles as they may be!) ...

I can't wait to see the photos! Could someone (um ... Lucy) pop over to Copenhagen and take some?
Unfortunately, it's a little far for me to go, but one year maybe xx

Study Love ...

It is impossible put my finger exactly on what I love about this room ...
But I think it is just a perfectly edited composition of lots of lovely elements ...

The stunning muted checker-board rug ...
Strategic positioning of antique scientific props ...
Glassy desk with lovely old non-turned wooden legs ...
Elegant mangle covered wing back ...
Glistening gold accents on the lamp base and smaller frames ...
And that perfect Gustavian panelling ...

Wouldn't change a thing ... (would get no work done but still, wouldn't change it one bit!)

Smelly Man ...

I loved the Burberry advertising campaign that featured the spiffy Ioan Gruffudd ...
Clearly, he would smell delicious ...

Puppy Lights ...

This is exactly what I need ...
Combining my love of fairy lights and overwhelming desire for a puppy ...
I should have thought of this myself ...

The Secret Spills ...

Yippee ...!

On a whim, I applied for a job in Melbourne a few months ago (things weren't great in the Wild West and I was looking to abandon the sinking ship) and to my amazement I have actually been offered it! While things have definitely improved here, the opportunity is definitely too good to pass up ...
It is still in the Public Health field but less nursing, more disease investigation, refugee health and policy development ... bring it on I say!
Am excited beyond belief to be closer to home and my darling family in Adelaide and be in a city that is renowned for its culture and spontaneity xx

So, posting may be a bit sparse as I pack up my entire life for the second time this year and move back across this big country ... but I will still be around ... don't worry ...
I always love a good move but am hoping this one will be the last for a good few years ...

Wish me luck xx

Red Repeat ...

Another 'red' entrance ... it's kind of my thing at the moment ...
This time, from a very stylish abode in Florence (or Firenze if you're feeling flouncy ...!)

I think the stripes are hand-drawn ... what a clever and patient chicken someone was?
And I just can't resist that twiggy branchy thing at the end and the dreamy light fitting ...
sigh!

From the ever fabulous Interiors blog xx

Map Love ...

I just really like this simple scene ...
Of course it contains a set of gorgeous maps ... but also, that glossy black floor and stunning boarded walls are just so good!

Rugby Heaven ...

I really must have been living under a rock if I have never heard of Ralph Lauren Rugby before ...
It certainly is time to get myself out of the bush and into one of these stores ...

I am ashamed of myself for not knowing ... these outfits for blokes are mighty fine ...

Not appropriate for living in the bush at all - that settles it then - am moving immediately!

Modern Loft ...

It is definitely no secret that I love a loft ... and this fine example is no exception ...
Certainly not as shabby and rambly as I am normally drawn to, but the gallery like spaces have really captured my attention ...
Take a minute to really look at the room above - it has been designed so cleverly to really take advantage of that wall of windows...
I can't get enough of that bright white everywhere ... from the glossy floor to the bookshelves at the far end ...
I love the mutey colours and the use of rugs to anchor each 'room' ...
Venetian mirrors get me every time ...

Close up shot of these fabulous cubby holes ...
I am a massive fan of freestanding furniture in the middle of a room to act as a division and an anchor ...
Note the gallery like accent lighting and chandelier - good to mix it up a bit ...
This gorgeous wardrobe is around the back of the bookshelves ...
What a lovely spot to sit and read (or have a glass of wine ...)
Another glorious freestanding piece of furniture ...
Don't you hate a desk against a wall ... I like to see what is going on!
And those sconces are just dreamy!

Certainly more modern than my usual style, but perhaps I am growing up a bit!

17.11.08

Go and look at Pippas blog IMMEDIATELY ...
That's right ... GO NOW!
But careful if you are at work because you will get into lots of trouble for laughing out loud ...!

Entry Love ...

Isn't this room just gorgeous ...?

It belongs to the fabulous designer Christian Liagre and is situated on the island where my favourite hotel is (that I have never been to) ...
Ile de Re off the coast of France ...

Don't you just love that interesting entry chamber?
It sort of looks like a little barn entrance ... I just love that red and the uniform panes of glass!

Photos here ...

A Very Good Morning ...

Goodness gracious this man is fine!
A bit of Gerard Butler is never going to be a problem for me ...
Monday is sure looking up now .....

14.11.08

Puppy Smile ...

Since I am in the swing of dedicating posts this week ...
This one is for my sister Georgie, who is stunning and genius, but far far away ...
A happy baby Henry to lighten your weekend ...

Aren't dogs that can smile the best? xx

Twirl That Baton ...

A while ago, I featured the home of Lyn Gardener of Empire Vintage ... a stunning warehouse like conversion ...
How lucky to find another shot of her home over on Desire to Inspire ...
I fell in love all over again...
The woman is the vintage style goddess!

I have only one of these calisthenics batons in black and white stripes but treasure it dearly ...
Am always on the lookout for more of course xx

Therapy ...

If I lived in any of these pictures I would come home and cry every day ...
Sob tears of pure joy ...
I would need therapy because my house was just so beautiful ...
and then more therapy because I turned into a hermit and never left my house...
and then extra intensive therapy and double my medication dose because I never let anyone unattractive inside just in case they messed up the aesthetics ...

Am crying now ...

Would wreck my toast by sobbing into it as I made my breakfast in the morning looking out on to my perfect courtyard ...

I don't even like baths ...
but would be lying in this one turning into a prune even faster due to my constant bawling!

Should now be buying stocks in a tissue factory ...

Currently need a drip because I have crying related dehydration ...

I would just use the left over washing machine box and live outside my house on the stairs ... once I was relseased from the mental hospital, that is!

For you Luce ...
I know you will be hospitalised over this one ...
(Ha! Now you have to start blogging again because everyone will follow this link ...!)

Nicholas Matheus ... you bitch!
